Howard: ‘I’m Desperate for My Dad to Direct Me’ |
Bryce Dallas Howard, whose father happens to be Oscar-winning directer Ron Howard, is making a bit of film history herself as she gives life to Fisher Willow, a new Tennessee Williams character, in The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.
Parade.com’s Jeanne Wolf found out why Bryce felt a common bond with the enduring women that the legendary playwright has brought to the big screen.
Tennessee’s family.
“There are elements of all the female characters that Tennessee wrote in the character I play. All the women he created could probably be in the same family. I always kind of pictured Fisher Willow as, basically, Blanche Dubois 15 years earlier, when she still had a chance. Tennessee Williams said about A Street Car Named Desire, ‘It’s a plea for the understanding of the delicate people,’ and that’s something that’s really true for this character as well because, as hard and honest as she is, she’s also very, very delicate.”

Tennessee Williams Returns to the Big Screen |
GORE VIDAL once remarked that if Tennessee Williams had nothing better to do, he would rewrite something he had already published. Almost until the day he died, in February 1983, Williams kept working, and not just on plays. He also turned out poems, novels, short stories, screenplays. The Williams archive is so vast that much of it is still uncataloged, and there are also works that are hiding in plain sight. “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond,” a script he wrote in 1957, when he was at the peak of his fame and powers, was collected in an anthology of his screenplays in the mid-’80s but remained unproduced until recently, when Jodie Markell, who had never directed a feature before, exhumed it.

Possibility of Appearing in Another Spider-Man or Terminator |
When Bryce Dallas Howard replaced Rachel Lefevre as Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, it was her third franchise after Spider-Man and Terminator. However, whether Howard will appear in another Spider-Man or if another Terminator will ever get made is unknown. Howard told ComingSoon that returning for another Spider-Man is possible, even if she hasn’t been contacted yet.
“I mean, it was really made clear to me when we all did Spider-Man 3 that it was entirely possible that a character could come back or a character could not and this could be just a specific plot line to that film because there’s so many stories in the comic book series and you want to pack as much in as possible so it’s truly up to [director] Sam [Raimi], up to, you know, the writers and the people who have done such an amazing job protecting that franchise and choosing the best story lines for audiences and I’m a fan first.”
Terminator Salvation director McG plans to make more Terminator movies, which is great news for Howard who would love to make another. It’s just a matter of whether a sequel gets made.
I haven’t signed anything that would obligate them to me or me to them or anything like that because it was … that film was made with a lot of humility, you know, it’s like we’ll do this one the best that we can and if people ask for more then they ask for me. But, it’s an incredible group. We are all fiercely committed to the story, I mean, it’s Terminator for goodness sakes. So, yeah, if that comes about I would, you know … and if I should be so lucky that they invite me back, I would be loathed to walk away from that.
Howard’s next movie is the upcoming period piece The Loss of A Teardrop Diamond, which opens in limited release later this month. Howard makes her Twilight debut next summer, in what will likely be just the beginning for Howard’s run in the Twilight franchise.
I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s – Victoria has a lifespan is what I’ll say.

‘Twilight’ Star Jackson Rathbone Admires Howard |
Jackson Rathbone, the depicter of Jasper Hale on “Twilight” and its sequels, reveals that he admires a cast member of “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse”. The 24-year-old star confesses he has a celebrity crush on Bryce Dallas Howard, who replaces Rachelle Lefevre to play Victoria on the third “Twilight” film.
“I think she’s an incredible actress and such a beautiful young woman,” Rathbone said of the “Terminator Salvation” actress in a recent interview with Seventeen. “I also think she’s way out of my league, so I’ll just keep dreaming.”

Howard Penning ‘The Originals,’ Father Ron Possibly Directing |
Bryce might be teaming up with her father, read the interesting article.
Looking back at the original run of “Happy Days,” it was far from obvious that Ron Howard was going to end up being one of the more prolific filmmakers of our time. Now it appears that his very own daughter is trying to pull off a similar sucker punch in her career. How very “Original” of her.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal and Imagine have picked up the rights for “The Originals,” a drama written by Bryce Dallas Howard and Dane Charbeneau. Imagine will produce the project, and the senior Howard is expected to have some involvement as well.
“The Originals” focuses on a group of men and women in their twenties who are reunited for a weekend in New York after learning that their influential childhood teacher has fallen into a mysterious coma. Described as an ensemble piece, it’s likely that there’s a role in there for Bryce Dallas Howard, especially considering her status as one half of the film’s writing force. Howard was most recently seen alongside Christian Bale in “Terminator Salvation,” though we’re betting that killer cyborgs from the future weren’t involved in the “mysterious coma” so central to “The Originals” plot… though that would be awesome.
As for Howard’s father, the “Angels & Demons” director allegedly has his eye on “The Originals” as a potential directing vehicle. THR notes that dear old dad might view his daughter’s script as “a potential antidote to the huge productions for which he is known.”
Truly, “The Originals” is shaping up to be a family affair. In addition to the potential father-daughter combo package, Dallas Howard’s screenwriting partner Charbeneau is engaged to her sister, Jocelyn Howard.
